Islamic State Now Using AI to Spread Its Message: Graphika's Daniel Siegel Cited in New Reuters Report
Reuters highlights Graphika research showing how Islamic State supporters are experimenting with AI-powered chatbots to target new audiences online.

The Islamic State is now using artificial intelligence technology to spread its message and ignite new fears about terrorism activity.
That was the headline of a new report from Reuters featuring insights from Daniel Siegel, an investigator at Graphika, and details about his research about chatbots that mimicked dead or incarcerated Islamic State militants.
"One of the things I am worried about as well is how synthetic media will enable these groups to blend their content that previously existed in silos into our mainstream culture," Siegel said in an interview with the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
He added that "what this allows the group or sympathizers or affiliates to do is target specific audiences" based on algorithms for different kinds of content.
