Election Disinformation: Graphika Insights on Bomb Threat Hoaxes Featured by CNN
Exclusive Graphika insights informed CNN’s reporting on Election Day bomb threats, revealing links to a wider global campaign tied to Russian domains.

A new report from CNN featuring exclusive insights from Graphika looks at numerous non-credible bomb threats that took place across swing states on Election Day, including via email addresses from Russian internet domains. Federal investigators continue to analyze the threats, but sources told CNN that this is the most aggressive U.S. government agencies have been to date in combating foreign influence online.
Chief Intelligence Officer Jack Stubbs and the Graphika intelligence team reviewed evidence provided by CNN and confirmed to the outlet that the Russian emaile domains are "likely part of a broader hoax campaign that has targeted organizations in the US and abroad since at least 2022.”
“Graphika’s findings suggest the fake bomb threats on Election Day in the US are just one part of a much bigger picture,” Stubbs also told CNN. “This activity appears to be part of a years-long campaign of hoax bomb threats sent to schools, universities, and even airports in multiple countries around the world.”
